The Memories That Move
Read transcript
Sometimes, a dog’s expression says everything.
The puppy wants to play. The older dog blinks slowly.
And you can practically hear, “Are we really doing this again?”
Add a little voiceover, and suddenly you have a whole conversation.
I’m Angie Norris, and this is Side Hustle GPS.
Today, we’re stopping in Pet Parkway to explore Pet Video Editing.
I recently visited one of my best friends in Chicago.
She has two beautiful golden retrievers, Disney and Dakota. And they recently added a golden retriever puppy named Moana.
Those three were cracking us up.
Moana wanted to play, explore, and get the older dogs’ attention. There were curious puppy moments, ears getting stepped on, and expressions from the older dogs that looked like an eye roll.
We started capturing those moments on video.
Then I taught my friend how to use CapCut to bring the clips together and add voices going back and forth.
We filmed the dogs in different situations and turned the footage into little skits.
We were having such a ball.
And we were doing it for fun.
But that same skill can become a service.
You can take the clips a pet owner already has and help turn them into something they’ll enjoy watching and sharing.
A funny conversation between their dogs. A puppy’s first-month highlight reel. A birthday montage. Or a meaningful tribute.
The personality is already there. Your editing helps bring it forward.
Start with natural moments the animals give you. There’s plenty of humor in their everyday behavior without setting up something that frightens them.
That curious look. The favorite toy. The little routine that happens every morning.
Those are the moments owners recognize and love.
And you don’t have to begin with complicated editing.
With my friend, we started with the basics: choosing clips, trimming them, arranging them, and adding voices.
She was able to start creating within minutes.
AI-assisted tools can help with captions, voiceovers, and ideas for a short skit. More advanced video tools can also help you create playful imagined scenes.
If you make a pet appear to dance or do something it never actually did, present it as a creative edit. Let people enjoy the joke while understanding what you made.
There are several ways to earn from this skill.
You could edit videos for pet owners or pet businesses.
You could teach someone how to edit their own clips, just like I taught my friend.
Or you could build your own pet-content page and explore monetization as your audience grows and you meet the platform’s requirements.
For a beginner, one clear editing offer is a practical place to start.
Your first money move?
Ask a pet owner for a few clips they’d love to turn into a short video.
Agree on the style, the length, and what you’ll deliver.
Then create one sample with a simple story: a beginning, a funny or meaningful moment, and an ending.
Let them review it, and ask permission before using it to show your work to other customers.
You don’t need a complicated production. You need to notice what makes that pet special.
So, what video on your phone would be even better with a little editing and personality?

Moments deserve to live on.
And sometimes, a few clips and a little creativity give someone a memory they’ll want to press play on again and again.
