Your first resale item might already be hanging in your closet. Something that doesn’t fit. Something you bought and never wore. Something you keep passing over every time you get dressed. You’re done with it—but someone else might be excited to find it. I’m Angie Norris, and this is Side Hustle GPS. Today, we’re stopping in Treasure Trail to explore Clothing Resale—and the opportunities hiding in plain sight. I love finding clothing that still has plenty of life left in it. At estate sales, I’ve come across brand-new pieces from Lucky Brand and Nine West. Things someone bought but never wore. There they are, sitting on a rack, waiting for somebody to take another look. And I’m usually happy to be that somebody. But you don’t have to go shopping to begin. Look in your own closet first. With three kids, I know how quickly clothing can pile up. They outgrow things. Their tastes change. And sometimes an outfit barely gets worn before it’s time to pass it along. Adults do it, too. We buy something for an occasion. We change sizes. We realize that the shirt we loved in the store somehow never makes it out of the closet. I think that’s what makes Clothing Resale such an approachable route. You can try it with something you already own and learn before spending money on inventory. Start by giving that item a closer look. Check the seams, buttons, and zipper. Look for stains, small holes, or wear. Find the brand, size, fabric information, and any details that help identify the piece. Then research comparable items that have actually sold. A familiar brand or an original price tag can catch your attention, but you still need to find out whether buyers want that particular item. And if you’re buying clothing to resell, include what you’ll pay for it, any cleaning, selling fees, and shipping expenses. Sometimes the numbers make sense. Sometimes you put it back on the rack. That’s part of learning what to look for. You’ll also start noticing which parts of the work you enjoy. Maybe you love the treasure hunt. Maybe you’re great at putting together an attractive listing. Or maybe you discover that photographing twenty shirts is a lot less exciting than finding them. Start small enough to learn that about yourself. For your first listing, take clear photos of the front, back, label, and any flaws. Include useful measurements and describe the condition honestly. Think about what you’d want to know if you were the buyer. You’re giving someone a chance to find a piece they’ll enjoy—and giving something unused a reason to leave your closet. So here’s your first money move: Choose one piece of clothing you no longer wear and would feel comfortable selling. Research it. Photograph it. Decide on a reasonable price. Then get that first listing up. You don’t need a garage full of inventory to find out whether you like doing this. One item can teach you something. So here’s your question today: What have you been walking past in your closet that someone else might be looking for? Explore Clothing Resale in Treasure Trail at SideHustleGPS.com. Small opportunities count. And this one might start with opening your closet.
